Trump pushes immigration threat as Harris highlights his ‘fascism’ in visits to battleground states: Live

Several major polls indicate the economy is the top issue for voters across the US

Kamala Harris agrees Trump’s vision is about ‘fascism’

Donald Trump has claimed that immigration is a bigger issue for the country than the economy at an Atlanta rally on Tuesday night as Kamala Harris laid into him for his “fascist” policy platform.

“I really believe that the border and the illegal immigration and 21 million people, many of them criminals, is a bigger thing than inflation,” Trump said.

“We don’t want them in this country,” he later added. “We’re getting them too fast. And I think it’s bigger than the economy.”

Recent polls from Gallup and the Pew Research Center both indicate that the economy — not immigration — is the top issue for the majority of US voters. However, immigration consistently ranks among the top concerns.

Several peer-reviewed studies have also generally found there is no link between immigration and violent crime in the US, the Associated Press reports.

Harris continued her swing-state media blitz as she laid into Trump in an hour-long town hall interview with Charlamagne Tha God on Tuesday.

Harris said she is “going to” win the election, agreed with the host when he called Trump’s policy platform “fascist” and defended her own record during the Detroit event.

Harris lays into ‘weak and unfit’ Trump as she defends her record in Charlamagne tha God interview

With the 2024 general election just three weeks out, Vice President Kamala Harris continued her aggressive media blitz as she defended her record and economic plans while assailing Donald Trump as an un-American “fascist” who isn’t fit to serve a second term in the White House.

Harris, who was in Detroit for a series of campaign appearances, took to the airwaves for an hour-long town hall hosted by popular radio host Charlamagne Tha God.

While much of the interview was tame, Harris took a tougher line than she has in many of her public appearances when talking about her rival, as she agreed with the host when he described Trump’s platform as “fascism.”

Trump claims immigration is bigger issue than economy

Donald Trump said immigration is a bigger issue than the economy and inflation during his Atlanta, Georgia rally on Tuesday night.

“I really believe that the border and the illegal immigration and 21 million people, many of them criminals, is a bigger thing than inflation,” Trump said.

“We don’t want them in this country,” he later added. “We’re going too fast. And I think it’s bigger than the economy.”

He also called for the death penalty for “any migrant that kills an American citizen or law enforcement officer.” This comes after Trump called for people who are convicted of fentanyl-related crimes to face the death penalty last week.
